What is the best healer combo?
What is the best combination for being a primary healer, with two professions?

Depends on what your team needs.
Monk/Warriors can help you from dying too fast, as do Monk/Elementalists. Monk/Mesmers give you many options on energy management. Monk/Ranger is good for PvE, while Monk/Necros parties a lot with dead bodies... You need to find one that works for you and your team. There is probably "worst", but there isn't really "the best" in general. |

Monk/Mesmer is the most popular because the main crisis facing most monks is energy and the Inspiration line of the Mesmer can help you recover it. There are also two hex removal skills in the Mesmer line that you might find handy.
Similarly, Monk/Elementalist can address your energy concerns through glyphs and you won't even have to dedicate any attribute points. Those two are probably the best because they're the most general type of healer build. You could make a good healer using other secondary professions but you're getting into more specific types of situations that won't always apply. |

The best as of the last BWE was likely the Monk/Warrior. Tactics has a nice variety of cheap, instant-use, uncounterable shouts and stances that kick your survivability through the roof.
Monk/Elementalist is similarly solid, with the uncounterable, suddenly fast-casting Wards for defense, while Armor of Earth offers significant defense and forces a Rend. Monk/Mesmer is top notch if you're well protected, with Channeling offering absurd amounts of energy on several maps, Inspired Hex chipping in a quick hex removal along with a bit of energy, and Power Drain available for a bit of disruption and energy if you're paying attention. Monk/Ranger and Monk/Necromancer aren't nearly as generally useful - just reserve those for specific build ideas. Peace, -CxE

Has anyone tried an El/Mo as a healer? An El just for the power storage primary and then all secondary Monk healing skills. Also, eventhough you look like an El, you will have most of the Mo powers. In PvP, you may not be as big of a target as an El hanging around in the back.

I believe Elementalist/Monk is the best since it can have a huge energy-pool..

SO SPAEKETH THE VILLAGE IDIOT:
The question is: What second profession, 8 skills and attributes make the best pure healer? I propose that you have to plan for PvP and GvG, since at some point, you will exhaust all the PvE (barring item farming,) at least until the next Chapter is released. But to answer the basic question, the Village Idiot needs more information, since he knows next to nothing about PvP. What are the most common and most effective attacks directed at Monks? Is it absolutely necessary that a Monk manage his own energy, or can his energy needs be met more effectively by teammates? What could a Healing Monk bring in place of energy management skills? Should a Primary Healer Monk bring buffs or debuffs? Is yes, which ones are most useful? What could he bring in place of buffs/debuffs to enhance his healing role? Yes, the Village Idiot could spend hours researching all this, but then he would become confused and depressed, and run the risk of autodefenestration. |

Mo/W: Bonetti's Defense, other adrenaline shouts/stances...
Mo/R: Draw Conditions/Melandru's Resilience. Mo/E: Glyph of Lesser Energy, Glyph of Sacrifice/Resurrect, Armor of Earth, Obsidian Flesh, Wards... Mo/N: Blood of Power/Blood Ritual, Demonic Flesh, Wells... Mo/Me: Energy theft, Inspired Hex. Out of all those I'd put Mo/N lowest. |
